Updates from the Rally Master
2012-01-23
Rider Update:
All riders:
There will be some changes this year as to how the Cape Fear 1000 Rally is administered. Here are the important updates you will need to know:
- Rule Change - Digital Cameras. In an effort to remain in line with other east coast rallies and stay abreast of technology changes, we have upped the maximum resolution for images to be submitted for scoring to 3.2 Megapixels (2048x1536), 1600 x 1200 is still the recommended maximum resolution and 640x480 is plenty. However, you are now limited to submitting no more than three images for any one bonus location. You may incur a penalty for submitting more than three images in connection with a single bonus. However, remember that you will incur a penalty for any non-bonus related images.
- Insurance Requirements. The Cape Fear 1000 Rally requires that you have liability coverage at least equal to what is commonly known as “100/300 Coverage.” You will be required to mail a copy of the Declarations Page from your insurance policy to us before you will be considered Ready To Ride, so go ahead and get that information together now.
- Valid Driver’s License with proper Motorcycle Endorsement. The Cape Fear 1000 Rally requires that you have a valid Driver’s License with a proper Motorcycle Endorsement. Again, you will be required to mail a copy of your Driver’s License to us before your registration will be considered complete, so start putting these documents together now.
- Waiver/Release. The Cape Fear 1000 Rally requires that you download, print, sign and have notarized the Cape Fear 1000 Rally Waiver/Release. You may find the form online here: http://www.capefear1000.com/waiver2010.pdf or a copy is also located in the Files section of the Yahoo Rider’s Group (some of you are asking, “What? There is a Rider’s Group?” See the next item).
- Cape Fear 1000 Riders Board. When we first started this effort, we created a Private Yahoo Group for participants in the rally to share ideas, experiences and questions with each other and with the Krewe and Staff. This has become the official source for answers to your Rally questions. BE WARNED - like any other internet discussion board, there is a good bit of misinformation, misdirection and good-natured poking fun on this board. Some of it may even come from me. However, if you see a post that I have signed as Rallymaster, then you can consider that a no BS statement from the Rallymaster. Period, end of discussion. If you have not already joined, you need to do so now. Do not wait. Join now. Here is the link to the Yahoo Group so you can apply for membership. http://www.capefear1000.com/waiver2010.pdf
- Mailing Address: The mailing address for sending in the required documents is: Cape Fear 1000 Rally, c/o Jim Bain, PO Box 4264, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597
Hope each of you is able to get out and enjoy some safe riding and I look forward to seeing all of you in Wilmington in April, if not before.
Jim Bain, Rallymaster
